The Beginning......

So, it begins in April 2009 with us selling our Heaven's Best franchise to Lorna and Brian for several reasons the biggest one being that we felt it was time to move closer to more family( no offense intended nat nat and Brian, who we will always miss terribly). Not the easiest thing we have done during our married life together.EVERYONE has asked us " Do you miss Alaska?" Our reply, " we miss it ALOT!" And then they ask the killer. "WHY?" This question has stumped me so many times! One only has to look at the previous postings of this blog to witness a TINY fraction of the beauty and wonder that Alaska holds. Perhaps it was just the people we came to love and friendships we formed that keep our hearts from moving on. Either way the answer to that question remains unanswered. Part of us will always be wishing we were still in Alaska.
It was a hectic departure with farewell parties and paper signing. And still so many things were left undone. Thanks to Lorna and Brian for all the help they gave us even though I know Brian REALLY wanted to sabatauge our plans:)
The ALCAN highway is awesome, however there were some points of our trip which were not so awesome. Like not finding an open hotel our first night and sleeping in our car while it was 0 degrees outside. We stopped at an outhouse along the way so I could releive myself, only to find that the entire seat/hole etc were completely frozen over. Guess I can hold it. We ate our 96 hour kits because there arent any resturants really or everything was closed until tourist season. We had a diarrea explosion in one of our hotel rooms. Lets just say it was one of those times we were really wishing we had our carpet cleaning equipment back!
Some highlights of our trip were the amazing veiws, being together in the middle of nowhere, and being within arms reach of wild buffalo. Most of our trip is on our video camera so sorry the pictures are kinda lame.

Wow, those are some really pretty pictures. What a trip though, I cannot imagine freezed over toilets and such. Not so easy for a girls to relieve herself as it is for a boy. Glad you are closer to home though,I know how hard it can be to not be close to home.

I know what you mean... you really grow to love a place when you start making memories and friends. When we leave Vegas, I know i'll miss it...and i'll be stumped when people say "Why?" I guess you always want what you don't have anymore. I love all your pics! I can't believe you were so close to wild buffalo! I can see how you'd miss Alaska...but we are SOOOO happy to have you closer! Love you guys!
