A Hunting People

So, after reading this post you are probably going to think we are a very VIOLENT family, but we really aren't:)
I call last summer and fall our "Hunter-Gatherer Stage" because almost everything we did was to prepare for the winter months. Baden shot a small buck near his parents' place. He is an awesome hunter! For weeks the boys would look out our windows looking for a buck and then yell to daddy to get his gun. Baden would look through his scope to make sure and then run out the door. So much excitement. Butchering a deer was a first for me and to be honest I was grossed out at first and then I just got used to it. Actually, after I saw the entrails of the deer off to the side I was very thankful I did not have to skin or gut the deer. (Oh , and I must thank youtube for the butchering instruction, you can find anything on there!) We had some of the meat processed into breakfast sausage and jerky and I have to say it is the BEST!

Below are some pictures from the Neilson Family Annual Turkey Shoot that takes place every Thanksgiving(Cause its just so much dang fun) We all took turns being hunters and turkeys and shot paint balls at each other. It was great!
